Indian Shrimp Curry : How to make it

This recipe for shrimp curry is a subtle yet flavorful curry that goes nicely with prawns. It has a great flavour and is a really simple dinner to make when you’re in a rush.  Let’s explore…

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Naturaa Groundnut oil
  • ½ sweet onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (14 ounce) can coconut milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pound cooked and peeled shrimp
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

Preparation

  • Step 1

    Heat Naturaa Groundnut oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion in hot oil until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Step 2

    Remove the skillet from heat and allow to cool slightly, about 2 minutes.
  • Step 3

    Add garlic, turmeric, ginger, cumin, paprika, and chile powder to onion in the skillet; stir over low heat to bloom spices, about 30 seconds. Stir in tomatoes, coconut milk, and salt.
  • Step 4

    Bring to a boil for 1 minute, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  • Step 5

    Stir in shrimp and cilantro; simmer until shrimp turns opaque, about 1 minute.
