  • 1 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1 Large Onion, chopped
  • 2 Medium Tomato, chopped
  • 3 Green Chillies, sliced
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • 2 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt To Taste
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  • 2 tsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 Banana Leaf
  • 1 Coconut Oil
  • 1 Curry Leaves
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1 Lemon Wedge
  • Thread to tie

Preparation

  • Step 1

We first need to marinate the fish. For this, take a bowl, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, black pepper, ginger garlic paste, salt, and lemon juice and mix everything well to make a masala.
  • Step 2

Make cuts in the fish and apply the masala all over the fish. Keep it aside for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Step 3

Heat oil in a pan, add coconut oil, one sprig of curry leaves, and add the fish to it.
  • Step 4

Fry the fish until both sides turn golden brown in colour. Do not over fry the fish to turn crispy which is not required for this recipe. Once fried, remove the fish and reserve it for later use.
  • Step 5

For Gravy: Heat coconut oil in a pan, add curry leaves, onion, green chili, and saute until onion turns soft.
  • Step 6

Now add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, salt, and saute well until the raw aroma leaves. Now it is turn to add tomatoes and saute.
  • Step 7

Now add the thick coconut milk and mix well. Allow the coconut milk to cook well until the mixture turns thick gravy consistency. Now the gravy is ready for the wrap.
  • Step 8

To Assemble In Banana Leaves: In a banana leaf, place half of the prepared gravy mix and place the fish onto it.
  • Step 9

Spread the remaining gravy all over the fish. Place 1 spring of curry leaves, green chili, and a lemon wedge.
  • Step 10

Wrap the leaf tightly and tie it with banana string.
  • Step 11

Now in a pan with medium heat, pour coconut oil and place the wrapped fish and allow it to cook for 7 to 10 minutes on each side.
  • Step 12

Once cooked, remove the banana leaf-wrapped fish from heat and serve!
